Mount Holyoke is a residential liberal arts college enrolling approximately 2,100 women from across the U.S. and more than seventy different countries. As a member of the Five College Consortium, Mount Holyoke students have easy and direct access to the collective resources and the 30,000 other students who attend the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Hampshire College, Smith College, and Amherst College. The Five College area, located in the Pioneer Valley in western Massachusetts, is rated as one of the liveliest areas for college students in the United States.
The Mount Holyoke News is the only student-run paper on campus and has been in publication since 1917. The News, published and distributed every Thursday, presents information relevant to the student body and surrounding community, and serves the Mount Holyoke campus as a public forum for students.
